Silver Birch Psychology provides holistic, affirming and trauma-informed psychological therapy for older children, adolescents and young adults across Bass Coast and South Gippsland. We also offer assessment services for adolescents and adults of all ages.
We specialise in supporting the mental health of young people with chronic or complex mental health concerns, including those navigating challenging family, social or life circumstances. We provide a warm, non-judgemental space for them to better understand themselves and their experiences.
September 2026: We are accepting new referrals.
We look beyond symptoms and diagnoses to understand what’s happening for the whole person.
We are curious about what difficult emotions, behaviours and responses might be communicating, and how relationships, experiences, circumstances and the broader systems around a person may have shaped them.
By understanding the why, we can find ways forward that make sense for you.
We know therapy isn't one-size-fits-all. We tailor psychological therapy to each young person's individual way of thinking, communicating and experiencing the world, allowing time to build trust and move at a pace that feels right.
By adapting sessions to suit different communication styles, sensory needs and ways of engaging, we aim to make therapy feel more accessible and meaningful for each young person.
We provide psychological therapy alongside neurodevelopmental assessment for adolescents and adults. Assessment can support those seeking formal diagnostic clarification, as well as people who simply want to better understand themselves, their experiences and the way their brain works.
By bringing together different parts of a person’s story, we aim to provide clarity, understanding and a meaningful way forward.
We are committed to collaborative care where helpful, and always with the young person's consent. We work with families, schools, GPs, specialists, allied health and other services.
We welcome care team meetings, case consultation and coordination of care.
By sharing knowledge and working towards common goals, we can foster positive change across the different parts of a young person's life.

Silver Birch Psychology is run by Genevieve Angel, a local psychologist with extensive experience supporting the mental health and wellbeing of young people and conducting neurodevelopmental assessments. Gen is neurodivergent herself and tailors therapy to each young person’s individual way of thinking, communicating and experiencing the world.
Silver Birch Psychology takes its name from Gen's love of silver birch trees, known for their distinctive, papery appearance, their ability to grow in some of the harshest conditions, and the way they gently sway in the breeze. No two birches develop in quite the same way; each responds differently to the conditions around it. What helps one flourish may not work for another, and there’s something about that idea that we really like.
In her spare time, Gen can usually be found reading, gaming, buying a plant she definitely didn't need, or admiring the local flora and fauna — an assortment of which have found their way onto our website.
