Fees and Referrals
Silver Birch Psychology offers psychological therapy and assessment services. The information below provides an overview of our fees for individual sessions and assessments, options for Medicare rebates, and information for referrers.

Silver Birch Psychology offers individual psychological therapy in Inverloch and by telehealth. As of 1 September 2026, we have availability for new clients.
Our fees are $220 per 50-minute standard session.
We welcome the following types of referrals:
- Medicare: rebates of $101.55 may be available with an eligible referral. More information on Medicare pathways. To refer, you or your GP can email us a copy of your referral.
- NDIS: we can support self-managed and plan-managed participants. Appointments are 60 minutes and are charged in accordance with current NDIS pricing guidelines. To refer, please email us.
- Private health: rebates up to your annual limits may also be available if you have cover for psychology. We recommend contacting your fund to confirm. To refer, please email us.
- FRMP: young people aged 16–25 who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness may be eligible for funded sessions. Referrals are via your school, GP or support service. Further information for referrers.
- Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS): if you have been affected by a violent crime in Victoria, you may be eligible for financial assistance. Read more here. To refer, please email us.
Silver Birch Psychology currently offers a range of psychological assessments for young people aged 12 years and older, and adults. We plan to offer assessments for younger children in 2027.
We welcome flexible payment plans at whatever frequency and amount works for you.

Cognitive Assessment
Standard cognitive assessments are $1,000 and include a comprehensive report.
Assessment fees may vary depending on individual circumstances, including the complexity of the assessment, information already available, and any additional interviews or review required. Relevant previous assessments or diagnostic information may be taken into account when determining the final fee.

ADHD
ADHD assessments are $800 for a diagnostic letter, or $1,300 for a comprehensive report.
Assessment fees may vary depending on individual circumstances, including the complexity of the assessment, information already available, and any additional interviews or review required. Relevant previous assessments or diagnostic information may be taken into account when determining the final fee.
A cognitive assessment can be added to an ADHD assessment for $600 but is not required by default.

Autism
Autism assessments are $1,000 for a diagnostic letter or $1,800 for a comprehensive report.
Assessment fees may vary depending on individual circumstances, including the complexity of the assessment, information already available, and any additional interviews or review required. Relevant previous assessments or diagnostic information may be taken into account when determining the final fee.
A cognitive assessment can be added to an autism assessment for $600 and may be suggested where it could assist with diagnostic clarity.
Comprehensive autism reports include basic functional assessment suitable for NDIS applications. Those seeking a formal functional capacity assessment should contact us for more information.

Combined Autism/ADHD
Combined autism/ADHD assessments are $1,400 for a diagnostic letter or $2,000 for a comprehensive report.

A cognitive assessment can be added to a combined autism and ADHD assessment for $600.

Assessment rebates: young people under 25 with, or suspected of having, a complex neurodevelopmental disorder (such as autism) may be eligible for Medicare rebates for assessments under the Complex Neurodevelopmental Conditions pathway. For more information, please contact us or speak to your GP.
Private health insurance may contribute towards some assessment costs. NDIS funding may be available for disability-related functional assessment where this is an appropriate use of a participant’s plan. We recommend checking with your insurer, plan manager or Support Coordinator for more information.
Clients seen under a valid Medicare referral are eligible for rebates of $101.55 (as of July 2026), leaving an out-of-pocket cost of $118.45.
There are several ways you may be referred for psychology under Medicare. The pathway that applies depends on your needs and eligibility. We recommend you talk to your GP about which pathway is most appropriate for you.
For people experiencing an eligible mental health condition, referred by a GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician for psychological treatment.

September 2026: Silver Birch Psychology is accepting new referrals. We are currently at capacity for bulk-billed spots. Please ensure clients are comfortable with an out-of-pocket cost.
To refer a client to Silver Birch Psychology under Better Access, please provide both a valid referral letter and a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Please note that the MHTP alone is not a referral under Medicare guidelines. Valid referrals must include the number of sessions being referred for (with a maximum of 6 sessions at a time).
We recognise that recent changes to Better Access have created some confusion when referring to psychologists. Please refer to the information sheets below for detailed referral instructions:
Silver Birch Psychology values ongoing collaborative relationships with referring GPs. We welcome you to contact us by email to discuss referrals or ongoing clients.

We welcome referrals and case consults from youth, housing, family violence and other services, and are happy to engage in ongoing collaborative care. Where service brokerage is available, we are happy to invoice per session or in packages.
